Get to know the Pug
AKC Meet the Breeds
The Pug is well described by the phrase "multum in parvo"
which means "a lot of dog in a small space." They are recognized for
their even-tempers, playful personalities, and their outgoing, loving
dispositions. This square and cobby breed comes in fawn, silver fawn,
apricot fawn or black, with a well-defined "mask" on his muzzle. A
popular companion dog, the pug also excels in the show ring.
A Look Back
The Pug is one of the oldest breeds of dogs and has flourished since
before 400 BC. Most researchers agree that the breed comes from Asia,
due to its similarities to the Pekingese. China is the earliest known
source for Pugs, where they were pets of the Buddhist monasteries in
Tibet. The breed next appeared in Japan and Europe, becoming popular
when Prince William II became the King of England. He owned Pugs and
they became the fashionable breed for generations.
Right Breed for You?
The Pug’s reason for living is
to be near their people and to please them, and their sturdiness makes

Things To Consider Before You Purchase A New Puppy
Puppies will chew on things. If you do not give them something to chew, then they will chew on what they find.
let your puppy decide how things should be, you are it's leader and
owner. You must teach your new puppy rules and boundaries, just like a
small child needs to be taught. What may be cute now as a puppy, may
not be cute once they are an adult dog. So start training early.
- For help with puppy training please seek a local trainer.
Also please read your comprehensive puppy care guide, Included with

Smaller breed such as Chihuahua's get stressed very easily. Combined the
stress's of leaving their litter mates and mother with going to a
public place and hearing and seeing tons of new things is a recipe for
disaster. If encountered by another dog, eight to twelve week old puppies
haven’t received all of their boosters yet and exposure to diseases
like Parvo and Distemper can be very dangerous.
